Reggie Garrett and Gary Westcott are two of the more exciting performers on the Seattle acoustic music scene.  Garrett's stunning vocals and rhythm guitar along with Westcott's scintillating work on guitar, mandolin, slide steel guitar and banjo make for one of the most original musical duos performing today.  Their music is a combination of the variety of musical styles and ideas that have influenced them over the years.  They perform their own original songs mixed with a number of more traditional folk ballads and contemporary folk style music.  The compositions incorporate Latin rhythms, blues, gospel, jazz, Celtic and much more.   The result is a musical blend that has excited and touched audiences throughout the West.

Reggie Garrett has been performing throughout the Western U.S. and Canada for a number of years, now.  He has worked in several Seattle area bands over the years.  Most recently he has been the founder and leader of his acoustic trio, Reggie Garrett & the SnakeOil Peddlers.  As half of the Garrett-Westcott duo his sound has strong rhythmic underpinnings with an almost percussive guitar style.  His singing reflects the folk/ rock / gospel traditions with which he grew up.

Gary Westcott has performed in a host of bands and other performing situations for over twenty years.  He has played in a variety of bands (country & western, jazz, folk, rock, etc.), from Alaska down through California, most notably with songwriters Pamela Cook, Gene Ryder, Pat Fitzgerald & James Bartlet as well as violinist Michael Gray of Pearl Django.  He is a multi-instrumentalist and musician extraordinaire - master of both acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin, slide steel guitar and banjo.  Mr. Westcott also performs with Pamela Cook & Right As Rain and several other Seattle based bands.

Their new CD, "Kate's Front Porch" is filled with a wide variety of songs, from traditional folk to jazz to Celtic to more contemporary sounds. The album opens with the gentle finger picking and slide dobro of the title track, "Kate's Front Porch". Along the way the listener is treated to a number of old favorites penned by other writers - Willie Nile's "Vagabond Moon", "Flyin' Shoes" by Townes Van Zandt, a sultry and low-down version of the Pixies' "Cactus" and Reggie & Gary's electrifying treatment of Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower". Gary steps up to the mic and treats us to his spirited rendition of Dave Alvin's "Dry River".  The disc includes five new Reggie Garrett tunes.  It closes with traditional Celtic favorites, "Skewbald" and "The Flowers of the Forest".

Reggie Garrett also has three CD releases to his credit.  "Welcome to My World",  "Time Stands Still" and "Seasons" all recorded with his SnakeOil Peddlers ensembles and display his range of musical styles and influences.  Gary Westcott's guitar and vocal work are featured in "Love So Strong", "Cats & Dogs" and "Raincheck" by Pamela Cook & Right as Rain.  His vocal and guitar work are also featured on "Washington Notebook" by Linda Allen, and compilation disk of Alaska songwriters, "Alaska Hit Singles"
